Dopa Hostel

A cute small stylish hostel in the outer city centre of beautiful Bologna. The location is really good and you can be at the train station or Piazza Maggiore (main square) within 15 minutes of walking. There is also a small grocery store across the road, so you have anything you may need close. I stayed two nights here and really liked the atmosphere - the owners and staff are very friendly, caring and don't hesitate to help you if you need anything, including giving you local tips for sightseeing or food experience. That also means the hostel attracts interesting and cool people who you can spend some time with, explore the city or just talk to about traveling and life. Exactly what I love. The first entry can be a bit of a hassle (ringing at the building's door, then again at the entry to the hostel for someone to let you in), but after you get the keycode and keys, it's easy. The bunk beds in the rooms are awesome - super sturdy, built from OSB boards so you have a lot of space and comfort, including your own privacy curtain, power plugs and a lockable locker (outside in the room). Even though the price for the night is more expensive than anywhere in the world I stayed, it does include a small continental breakfast. It's usually nothing amazing, except when someone from the staff makes a home made cake (oh yea, loved it). Unfortunately, I was unlucky - the A/C in the room broke when I arrived and I could not sleep in the 40°+ C degree hell both nights, which meant I was absolutely shattered and exhausted the third day in the morning when I had an important business presentation at the local conference 🙁 The staff did apologise to me each day and it looked like they are trying to do something about it, but the maintenance people came to fix the A/C when I was already checking out (the third day) and I simply feel like there were many other better options - swap us with the people who complained their rooms are too cold, add some mechanical fans to our room, offer some form of compensation, etc. Everything was okay, but the pro-customer approach was a disappointment.

If you are ever planning to stay in Bologna, I can definitely recommend this place. It is just a short walk from Bologna Central Station. The staff is really friendly and putting a lot of thought into offering a great service. I was lucky to experience a nice social dinner organized by the host. Would come back 100%

I had an amazing time here. The hostel is lovely, well decorated and the facilities were good. The bedrooms had curtains and lockers which was great although locker is small but that was fine for valuables. There is such a great vibe with the place as people hang out in the common room and the free breakfast allows you to easily speak to other people. Staff was very friendly and spoke to you. A proper family feel to this place and I couldn’t recommend it enough!! P.s slight con that it gets quite hot at night and there’s no AC in the bedrooms but I did go in the height of summer so this is to be expected

If I wanted to describe all the pluses that the hostel has, I would run out of space and no one would want to read such a long argument 😀 I travel a lot around the world, but I have never had such a great hostel accommodation before. At every stage, in addition, I was met with incredible friendliness and great help from the staff - so much so that they even helped me with such aspects as where to park safely or where to eat deliciously. One thing that totally surprised me was the cleanliness. It is amazing that with this number of people it was very, very, very clean! It really was a shock to me! And this is an important aspect for me when traveling. The spaces are just super atmospheric, the beds comfortable. It is thanks to this accommodation that it was a great trip. In addition, the location - simply wonderful! Dear staff - thank you immensely for your help and support. I am already dreaming of returning <3

It's located near to the train station and you can walk towards most touristy spots in the centre. On arrival, you'll need to buzz the main door to the building to get in, then head up one floor via the staircase or elevator and buzz another door to finally get into the hostel. Once checked in, you'll get a key/fob to skip all the buzzing! Signage for the hostel is small!! I stayed in a private room with an ensuite bathroom so it was a bit costly. My room was very spacious, with cupboard spaces, towels and sheets provided and the bathroom was immaculate! There is an AC unit but it is controlled by a central system (the temperature and turn on times are pre-set and cannot be altered). ️ The shared kitchen/dining area really feels like I've walked into someone's home kitchen; it's nice and cosy but limited in seats. The included breakfast was pretty good (self service) and was enough to start my day properly! There were some nice cakes that I enjoyed thoroughly. The common areas are small so, for me, it didn't feel like an easy space to socialise as I always felt like I might be disturbing other people or getting in the way, but this was not an issue for me. There are lots of nearby bars and cafes to go to. Check the walls for notices/tips for events/tours. There are a few computers in the hallway that you can use for free, and of course, free WiFi.

Our stay in Dopa Hostel was just perfect! We booked the private bedroom with bathroom, the room was spacious and clean! It was our first stay in a hostel, we liked It a lot!! It was just so familiar and cosy. The staff was so friendly and nice, they will answer all your questions and make you feel comfortable. Also perfect location to walk to the city center. We enjoyed every second of our stay!
