The best school and teachers I could ask for. Amazing patience, kindness, and knowledge that aides in the positive experiences I continue to experience daily while learning the beautiful Italian language. As an added benefit, Madrelingua also provides free tutoring 4 days a week for 2 hours a day and numerous activities in and around Bologna to facilitate learning the culture every week! I could not imagine a better place to learn! ❤️

This is an incredibly special place!! The teachers here have been skilled, kind and patient guides as me and my husband began our journey in learning Italian. Not only do I feel that we have grown in learning Italian, but we were able to do so in an environment where we felt supported and encouraged. My husband and I enjoyed our experience so much we are planning to return for our vacation next summer. There are lots of opportunities to engage with other students through social activities after school as well as tutoring for two hours daily! The classes are also engaging and fun! The city of Bologna is welcoming and a perfect place to practice what is learned in class. There are also many cultural activities, and the food!!! Madrelingua created such a cozy home away from home feeling!! If you are looking for a place to learn Italian and grow, this is it!!

Madrelingua is the best language learning program I have encountered. Classes are small and the instructors excellent. In my classes instructors pushed you a bit with material just almost too challenging but not and at a pretty good pace not too fast but fast enough to keep you paying attention. What’s more, the classes are fun. We played games, we told anecdotes, we worked solo and in duos and trios. I spent a decent portion of every day at Madrelingua laughing. I was always excited about going to class. Another strength of the Madrelingua program is the social interaction. Each day classes are broken into two parts, separated by a half hour or so at a local cafe with your class and instructor or instructors so the chitchat is all in Italian and it’s fun. Then, in the afternoon when classes are over, the school offers field trips to sights of interest, pasta-making lessons, exercise sessions or apertivi evenings with local Italian friends of the school. I can’t recommend Madrelingua enough. It’s a special place. You feel like part of a community full of smart people who like to laugh.

I can't recommend Madrelingua highly enough. I spent three weeks there on the beginners' course - having changed schools from a school where I only spent a week and did not have a good experience. In contrast Madrelingua was amazing. The teaching / learning is super intense. For the 4-week beginners' course Week 1 was present tense, week 2 was the perfect tense, Week 3 Imperfect, and Week 4 Conditional. Compare with the first school I tried, and they were still practising present tense on Week 4. Of course this means that this is really intense, with a necessity to do your homework - but hard work and fast leaning was what I was looking for. I didn't have time, but each afternoon a couple of language teacher interns are available for you to ask questions, or to practice your language skills - allowing you to have an even more intense period. The other thing I liked was that everything was taught in Italian. Even for the beginners' course, no English was spoken. If you didn't understand the explanation, the teacher explained a different way or even used drawings etc. This is full immersion. Perhaps if you have never learned another language before, or perhaps never learnt a romance language (French, Spanish, Portuguese) this class might have been hard to keep up with - especially the grammar. But for me, the class was the perfect fit. I also really enjoyed a few of the optional activities such as Italian cooking class and dinner cooked by a local for a small group of students. I would definitely recommend.

È stato un grande piacere conoscervi ed anche aver fatto un corso lì con voi. Ho imparato molte cose nonostante sia stato soltanto tre giorni, 12 ore. Lei e tutti gli insegnanti siete troppo gentili, carini, piacevoli e avete fatto cura di me molto bene. Mi sono sentito a casa mia. Vorrei molto ritornare a Bologna prossimo anno e continuare a studiare l'italiano che a me piace tanto. Purtroppo i brasiliani hanno bisogno di aver il visto per fare un giro in Europa e bisognamo richiederlo. Un ottimo fine settimana per tutti voi. Andiamo a restare in contatto.

Wow! Non so da dove cominciare. Ho deciso di intraprendere quest'avventura con mia sorella ed è stato fantastico! Gli istruttori della scuola sono così competenti, così divertenti e così gentili. Le lezioni erano la combinazione perfetta tra lezioni frontali, conversazione e cultura. Che tu vada per una settimana o un mese, creerai delle ottime amicizie e delle amicizie che dureranno tutta la vita. Non vedo l'ora di tornare l'anno prossimo! Hai cavalli? ❤️❤️

Fun way to learn Italian and meet other students from all over the world. Madrelingua School even helped me find lodging for days I was enrolled. They also provided guided tours to key Bologna sites, special dinner and aperitif events. Teachers are patient and friendly. I had four very positive weeks at Madrelingua. Forza Bologna! …Sempre!
