Stay away from this foreign currency exchange at Bologna airport in Italy. They lure you with a nice exchange rate and then they stick it to your behind with a commission fee of up to 19.99 % . Yes you read it correctly 19.99%. 800 us dollars became 524 Euros after all the fees and commission. The initial exchange rate of 0.815499 transformed to a horrendous rate of 0.65500. So stay away from this place. I was forgetting one very important thing about this transaction. After receiving much less money that I expected, I complained to the cashier and her response was that I was charged "IVA" which is equivalent to VAT in order countries in I would be able to request a refund when I leave Italy. Not true. This is not IVA it is a commission fee which is not refundable.

Currency exchange: 1/5 Absolute thievery for currency exchange. We exchanged 200 USD for €121. That's a rate discrepancy of over 28 cents per euro. I travel extensively, and rarely have I seen such a ludicrous currency exchange markup. My advice is to withdraw from an ATM with your local debit card, bank conversion fees are usually no more than 5-7 cents per euro. VAT refund: 2/5 At departure, non-EU travelers can get a cash refund here for any shopping that was part of the refund program administered through Global Blue. Global Blue alone takes a massive "fee" for processing this, in our case about 35% of our refund went to them. Then this kiosk levied their own fees totaling in excess of another 40%! Charge a fair fee for the service, that's fine, but this is just plain robbery. They still get 2 stars though, because the only other alternative is to mail the refund in, and likely never get it.

Terrible experience for tax refund for Global Blue and Planet. The office refuse to pay on card or give Euro in cash (also they have ridiculous exchange rates) . They tell you to drop your tax free forms into the mailbox outside of the airport if you don't accept USD, which was not possible because MediaWorld does not give envelope for Global Blue tax form. Global Blue and Planet must open their own offices in Bologna Airport.

Scam!!! They asked me to pay €46 for a 100GB SIM card, and I asked, ‘Isn’t it €36 only?’ Then she was awkward because she was trying to mark up the price herself. We ended up paying €36 for the 100GB package, and a few days later, we realized they only gave us 30GB!!!! €36 for 30gb?! What a jerk. Please don’t come here!!

Very bad experience for tax free refund they took me 19,90% from original sum plus fix service fee 4,00€ and they offered me only in dolars or pounds, and no choice to be refunded on card. That is shame and very rude personal.

For 100usd they wanted to give me 64 euro. And for 1000 usd, 705 euro. The rate you see on their website does not include the fee they charge. Todays rate in google is 927 euro for every 1000 usd. I expect currency exchangers to get a commission, but 222 euro of commission for every 1000 usd is an amount I'm not willing to pay. I put 2 stars because the woman was nice and because at least there is an option for someone that only has cash and no credit cards.
