We had an unforgettable experience with Carmelita’s market tour and cooking class! From the very beginning, communication was smooth and she gladly accommodated our dietary needs and special requests. We especially appreciated her flexibility and the wonderful local recommendations she shared with us along the way. Carmelita thoughtfully crafted a beautiful menu for our family, and the whole process—shopping together, learning new techniques, and then preparing the dishes—was both fun and deeply enriching. The meal itself was absolutely delicious, made even more special because we were involved in every step. If you are looking for an authentic, personal, and memorable culinary experience we highly recommend booking the full day tour/class with Carmelita.
Cooking with Carmelita was an absolute joy! Our teenagers loved leaning how to make tagliatelle by hand. My husband loved making stuffed zucchini with the kids. Besides cooking and eating one of the best meals of my life, I enjoyed hearing the stories behind the food itself: where it comes from, why it’s made the way it is, and how it has changed over the years. Carmelita herself is a treasure! She is more than an ambassador of Bologna, she is our adopted Italian auntie and Guardian of La Cucina Storica!
We had a short and sweet cooking class with Carmelita last Monday during our trip to Bologna, and it was an amazing experience! Carmelita is a wealth of knowledge — warm, engaging, and full of insights about regional cuisine. She kindly catered to our vegetarian requirements, which we really appreciated. We made delicious ricotta ravioli with tomato sauce and a refreshing lemon tiramisu — one of Carmelita’s own inventions. After cooking, we sat down together to enjoy the food over great conversation and wine, which made the experience even more special. If you're looking for a class that truly gives you a flavour of the region and teaches you something you can't get from a recipe book, I highly recommend it!
If you are looking for an authentic Bolognese cooking experience, then you should definitely book it with Carmelita! Your time with her will not only include a lesson in cooking, but also in local food tradition and history. You will enjoy a very fun day with a dynamic woman, and leave feeling like you’ve made a friend.
We spent a lovely day learning how to make pasta with Carmelita. She’s very knowledgeable about Bolognese cuisine and has passion for making pasta the right way. I can’t wait to recreate what I have learned. Don’t hesitate to book a lesson.
We had a great food tour / cooking class with Carmelita, who is passionate and exceptionally knowledgeable about Bologna’s culinary history. We really enjoyed shopping for the ingredients and making some authentic local food. Organisation / communication with Carmelita was really easy and we appreciated her professionalism.
We had a great time at the Paste e Basta course. Carmelita is a super nice host and teacher. We learned how to make 3 different pasta’s. At the end Carmelita made sure we would have a nice sit and she would finish all the dishes so we could enjoy a lovely lunch! Would definitely recommend to anyone who really wants to learn how to cook Italian dishes
